Meet Our Dentist in Baraboo, Wisconsin

Dr. Terry Baxter

Dr. Baxter graduated from Baraboo High School in 1979. He decided to follow in his father's footsteps to become a dentist. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University Dental School in 1988. This is particularly notable because he is a third generation Northwestern Dental School graduate in the family. Both his grandfather, Glenn, and his father, Donald, received their degrees in 1923 and 1953 respectively. After graduation Dr. Terry joined his father’s practice and they enjoyed a great working relationship until Dr. Donald's retirement.

Dr. Terry began a new era when he relocated the practice to a new building in West Baraboo. Nearly three decades later his philosophy of providing dental excellence whenever possible and treating every patient with dignity and respect remains the same. He is particularly proud of his wonderful staff who all work hard to make each patient’s visit a positive experience.

Dr. Terry and his wife, Margie, were born and raised in Baraboo. They love the area and enjoying its many venues. They feel privileged to have been able to give a similar experience to each of their three children.

Dr. Terry relishes spending his free time outdoors in the woods, his yard, or on one of the areas many beautiful lakes; but most importantly he loves spending time with his family.

Dr. Shaina Zhao

Dr. Shaina Zhao is honored to continue the tradition of care at Baxter Dental Center and is excited to become part of the Baraboo community. She grew up in Minocqua, Wisconsin, where she learned the value of hard work, kindness, and treating neighbors like family. Those small-town values continue to guide how she practices dentistry every day.

Dr. Zhao truly believes that every patient deserves more than just a happy, healthy smile — you deserve a treatment plan that’s personalized just for you. It’s your body, your time, and your investment in your health, and she works together with each patient to reach the best possible outcome. She values open and honest communication and is committed to making sure patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident every step of the way.

Before joining Baxter Dental Center, Dr. Zhao practiced in Prairie du Sac, where she enjoyed caring for families and building long-term relationships with patients of all ages. She has long appreciated the beautiful scenery and welcoming spirit of the Baraboo area, which made the decision to continue her career here a natural one.

She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2020. Dr. Zhao is a member of the Wisconsin Dental Association (WDA), American Dental Association (ADA), and Greater Dane Dental Society (GDDS).

Outside the office, Dr. Zhao enjoys traveling and exploring new experiences, and she looks forward to serving this community for many years to come.
